Bought it in march 09 at auction for 950. since then have stripped her down and done most all repairs, refinished teak for inside and cleaned all metal then sprayed with metalic paint for aluminum wheels from advanced auto. Faired and templated the keel and rudder, repaired the topside where balsa core was soft by drilling 1/2 holes and using twesers to remove wood, poured west systems epoxy in hole using turkey baster . just have to prime and paint using topside 1 part enamel 109.00 gal at westmarine. plan on using kiwigrip for the non slip well thats it for now and will post how to's as I go ps how do I post pics

Sounds great, I likely need to do the balsa repair as well.

Regarding the pictures - your account in the gallery is activated and I noticed you already created folders there.
Do you still need any help there?

If you need post in the forum - just attach the image - it will be displayed automatically.

need your help, sj rebuilder,, just bought one myself and am planning to do , what you just did...although not as extreme in my case,, one question,,what kind of epoxy paint should i get to redo the hull,,its got light barnacles on it,, what grit sandpaper should i use,, what kind of prep do i need to do the job,, ive got a compressor and a gun which will handle epoxy paint,, where do i get the paint,, how much does it cost.? ( i ask a lot of questions dont I) anyway,, one more question, so i can make a complete ass of myself, is it true the mast is held in place by friction only on the mast plate,, i see no other way , and ive been told thats the way they built them,, the rigging holds it down along with friction,, is that true Bob Braastad 713 4461309

most of the boats have at the very least a cradle of sorts for the mast step. friction is impossible as a step, and would certainly lead to disaster. my boat has a small foot on the bottom of the mast, and a "shoe" for it on the deck. a hinge of sorts woudl certainly be easiest if you trailer your boat.
