Bushings around rudder post

Postby Langmeyer » Wed Apr 29, 2009 11:21 am

It was brought to my attention yesterday that there was a lot of play on the rudder post. Are there bushings that go around the rudder post and the tansom?

I don't recall exactly (never needed to remove my rudder so far) - aren't there some plastic inserts between the post and transom?

Do we have any diagrams with part numbers for replacements hiding around here for the rudder post? I"m doing a complete overhual of the boat. I need to start thinking about these sorts of things....

did you ever get any resolution to your tiller/rudder bushing? I have a very loose tiller and will be opening it up to explore options for repair. any info would be appreciated.

thx,

My rudder is a little loose also, so I'm definitely interested in any information that you guys come up with. Thanks.

Anyone around the South Carolina area?

I use three wraps of mylar sheeting around the rudder post on my San Juan 24. This snugs it up for two sailing seasons. There are no bushings.

Nice. Still have a couple of questions. Do you order from that site? If so, which material and how thick?
