Fantastic! Thanks Bear. There are 12 boats signed up so far. We are waiting to see at least 10 more to sign up. SKIPPERS - If you haven't done so, go to:

Hello - Interested in SJ24's

... first boat and have been eying things for a year or so. I just inherited a very small amount, but enough that I might be able to buy a SJ24 (or at least a good start to buying one). I live in the Lake Norman area of Charlotte, NC. We don't get a lot of wind, especially in the summer, but there ...

Re: complete rebuild of my 1980 SJ 24

most of the boats have at the very least a cradle of sorts for the mast step. friction is impossible as a step, and would certainly lead to disaster. my boat has a small foot on the bottom of the mast, and a "shoe" for it on the ...

Tiller length/rise

I have a 74 with what appears to be a wheel barrel handle for a tiller. While it performs the function, I would love to have an actual tiller. What was the original length, rise, and width at attachment? If you don't know that, at least share what you have on yours, thanks.

Re: "new" SJ24 on Pender Island BC

Hi Rod and Jane,

Congratulations on your new boat :)

Regarding the dodger - you can check pictures of my boat ("Cosmo"), the design is fairly strait forward, mine is getting old and at some point I will replace it (canvas at least).

considering buying an SJ24

... here are the things I know, or noticed. -HIN indicates it's a 78 hull -no motor -supposedly bottom painted last year, hull and decks look good, at least above the waterline -teak hatchboards missing, replaced with acrylic panels -halyards and all running rigging loks pretty worn -mainsail will ...

sj24.org domain

I have registered sj24.org domain today (the previous owner didn't renew it), "org" extension fits better a community site, so sj24.net will be re-branded eventually to sj24.org.
sj24.net will still remain in service for at least a few of more years (or longer if there is need for it).

... 2 years ago I did hull painting but I was using Interlux Pre-Kote + 2 coats of Interlux Brightside (one component paint). I would wait until at least April when you can get a few of dry warm days in row... The last time I needed to spend almost 2 weeks instead 3-4 days in Thunderbird marina ...

I can't see your boat from my house, the sheds will be in the way. I might be able to see the mast. I think I have seen your boat leaving the marina though. Your boat makes at least 3 yellow San Juans in Nanaimo.

I felt I had a responsibility to at least show up at some reasonable hour since I had put things together (sorta) There were so many boats we had to tie me up diagonally until someone ...
