Topping lift

... to support the boom while the sail is down. I am sure there are pros and cons to this that I'm not yet aware of. I have seen larger boats with both a boom support and a topping lift. In my brief experience it seems like the topping lift offers more stability with the main down. Perry

The J/24 site and the San Juan 24 forum (Yahoo group) have the class rules online... both should have the spinnaker dimensions for comparison. The J/24 spinnaker may be different size, but probably would still work. I have a Cal 25 spinnaker I am thinking of flying... ...
