Online NOAA charts.

Here is a link to where you can download & print 8.5x11 copies of NOAA charts.
Go look at what you can get.
Great method of getting reference copies for cruise planning or general info.
The charts are kept relatively up to date.

Re: Tiller question

Buy one of those cheap hammocks and stretch it under the rudder to keep it held up.

It's possible the assist springs are shot. Spray some real penetrant on the pivots, and tap them with a wrench or something to cause vibration and help the penetrant get into the crevices. You can tie a line to your backstay (a boom vang setup from a dinghy works good for this) and use it as an assi...

A lot of the boom kickers I have seen (on race boats) won't support
the boom with the folded mainsail on it. It seems the idea is that
they support the boom in light winds to allow a fuller shape to the mainsail.

The title of the page on .org still reads as .net

The title of the page on .org still reads as .net sj24.net :: View Forum - General is the title of http://sj24.org/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=5 I'm guessing it. because .org is a mirror of .net I'd suggest using .org if it's the one you want to settle into in the future as the primary name or the forum....

I would go ahead and say 18 so that you will never be in violation if you get stopped by Harbor Patrol or Coast Guard. Max Gross would be well above 3900. The minimum weight for racing is 3650 without crew. Add crew of 10 (2000 lb) and beer (1000 lb) and you would be at over 6000 lb (the math is too...

I met someone (the skipper, I think) from Cheekee Monkee in Victoria after Swiftsure a couple of years ago.

Fulton and Gerlick make the outboard motor brackets. If you have a 4-stroke more than 6 HP (50 lbs) don't get the Fulton with the narrow scissor mechanism, get the one where the scissor mechanism is at least 4 inches wide. I'll try to remember to look up model numbers, but West marine & Boater's...

You can stretsh a tarp (or better yet, a fishing net or a hammock that is like a net)
under the tip of the rudder to pull up on it so it won't slip out.
Basically, keep the rudder pulled up from below the water somehow.

Might want to do it in shallow water just in case.

The Pinky & the Brain graphic was spinnaker graphic (answering Summersdawn's question). Not sure if it'd be a black or a white cloth for a background. I considered the stencil, but I still like the look of the scrawlings of a lunatic (and I can just do it with a 3" paintbrush) I'll do up th...
