Alex: I've had two boats for a year and a half. The bigger one suits us better for extended cruising, so the San Juan is up for sale. I've had this one out of the water for five months doing the major hull stuff, and am ready to relaunch. We sailed her for a year and liked her enough to do the work....

SJ24 with trailer for sale in Victoria BC Canada

I'm selling my SJ24. It's been restored to almost new condition, has new full battened, loose foot main and new 110 jib. She's clean, fresh, and ready to sail. The price: $10,500 Canadian (approx. $8930 US) without trailer, or $12,000 Canadian (approx. $10,200 US) with trailer. The trailer will not ...

Well, to answer my own question, I finally decided, and built, a fully (4) battened loose footed main, and I love it! http://www3.telus.net/sailing/main1.jpg http://www3.telus.net/sailing/main2.jpg http://www3.telus.net/sailing/main3.jpg I liked it so much I built a new 110 jib to go along with it :...

Best choice for new main

This winter my boat project is a new mainsail for Adios. I've had moderate success making a few jibs for a previous boat, but this will be my first mainsail. Luckily I have the mentorship of a good local sailmaker, both for design and material supplies, not to mention advice. I have to decide whethe...

Pete:
A contributing factor to your slippage problem may be old lines. They tend to get a little worn where the jammer is. Try reversing the line end-for-end. That way you'll be jamming on a 'new' section.

I don't think an electric would be too good in a strong current, but if you have a good battery(s) it might get you back to your slip. I've seen a couple of San Juans with 2 motors. That's a lot of weight on a small transom. Carrying a spare also presents the problem of changing motors at sea. I've ...

Gallery help

Hi,
Is there a help file or an FAQ for using the Gallery? I've posted some pictures there, but can't seem to name the folder they're in.

Thanks.

Tossed my cookies, deleted my files, and cleared my history ... seems to work :-)

Thanks, Alex.

PS I washed my fingers, too ;-)

Logging in

Sorry to hit you with another headache, Alex, but I've been having trouble logging in. I've checked the automatic login box, but I end up having to log in twice before my login takes hold.

Yahoo SJ24 Search Engine

One thing I would like to see preserved is the search engine for the Yahoo archives at
http://www.fortitudine.com/~brushfire/yahoo/sj24search.html
While restoring Adios I found this feature extemely valuble.

Thanks for pointing it out to GOB, Mark42! I hauled 'Adios' out on the trailer this evening. Have to raise the antifouling a couple of inches as I goofed on the first try. Also, drill a 2" hole in the bottom  for a depth sounder transducer. Not too happy about that, but it just wasn't reliable ...

Posting pictures

Alex: When we post a picture do we just include the URL to the server where it resides, or should it be uploaded to this forum somehow?

Thanks!
